AQHA-NZ awards

When you are a financial member of AQHA-NZ and you compete with a Quarter Horse registered with AQHA-NZ, you have the chance to gain a variety of awards:

  • Annual awards - using points from August to July each year
  • National Show awards - using points gained at the annual National show
  • Lifetime awards - using all points gained in a lifetime

Lifetime Awards

The most prestigious of all AQHA-NZ awards is the Honour Roll, awarded to any registered Quarter Horse and/or individual that has made an outstanding contribution to the Quarter Horse and the Quarter Horse industry in New Zealand. This award cannot be achieved simply by earning show points, it is awarded at the discretion of the AQHA-NZ Council.

Next, the Award of Excellence is achieved by outstanding performers that have amassed 1,000 performance points and a Superior Halter award. This is a horse award only and the owner must be a current financial member.

The Prestigious Performance Award can be awarded to Youth, Amateur, Open/Adult and Horse Performance - in General Performance events. 1000 points must be achieved and either a Register of Merit or a win in a class of six.

500 Points Award - Can be awarded for Youth, Amateur, Open/Adult and Horse Performance in individual events only. 500 points plus a win in a class of six or more horses must be gained.

Superior Performance Award - Can be awarded for Halter, General Performance or any single Performance event. 120 points must be gained plus a win in a class of six or more horses (or for Halter 10 championships can be gained instead of the class of six).

Register of Merit (ROM) - Can be awarded for Halter, General Performance or any single Performance event. 35 points must be gained plus a win in a class of six or more horses (or for Halter 10 championships can be gained instead of the class of six).

NZ Quarter Horse Champion - For achieving 90 or more points. 25 of these points must have been achieved at Halter in approved classes and a minimum of 15 performance points must have been achieved in at least two different events. The horse must win at least one event in which six or more horses were exhibited.
